Our advice is...never get a credit card when you are a student but instead you should wait till you finish Uni. There are no such things as student credit card rates. If you look at our student banking advice section, you'll learn that one bank gives up to £2,450 interest FREE. There isn't the need to get a credit card at Uni - we don't think the credit card companies would give you one anyway. |

The Credit Card for when Uni is over
There is no such thing as student credit card rates. But there are good rates out there.
We would advise getting a credit card when you have a full time job and need a little bit of extra cash at the end of the month.
For the sake of argument and to contradict ourselves we do recommend the HSBC credit card because of it's 0% rates. We only advise getting this IF you have finished Uni and have got a job.

You won't find better than 0% on purchases for 12 months and just 2.9% on balance transfers for 24 months.
The card also has great security features such as zero online fraud liability, global assistance and advanced fraud detection systems.
